Through a settlement with the California Department of Insurance in January 2008, LandAmerica agreed to issue refunds to certain identified consumers in California who purchased a residential title loan policy issued by LandAmerica title companies during a specified period and who were overcharged an amount more than $5.00.
Eligible California customers are limited to three groups:
- Purchasers of loan policies of title insurance issued by LandAmerica’s Northern California operations of Commonwealth Land Title Company in connection with purchases of residential properties, during the period of January 1, 2004 through March 31, 2005.
- Purchasers of loan policies of title insurance from LandAmerica OneStop in connection with residential refinances, during the period of January 1, 2004 through March 31, 2005.
- Purchasers of loan policies of title insurance from Southland Title Corporation in connection with residential refinances, during the period of January 1, 2004 through March 31, 2005.
Refund checks will be mailed to the address of the property which was the subject of the loan policy of title insurance unless you advise us of a different mailing address. If you think you are eligible for a refund as a result of this settlement, please complete the claim form and submit it.
