Captive reinsurance arrangements are a form of partnering with other service providers to accommodate the desire of consumers for greater "one-stop shopping" and help extend title insurance service offerings of real estate agents, mortgage lenders, home builders, and other business partners.
In February 2005, LandAmerica announced that it intended to terminate its captive reinsurance arrangements despite its belief that the programs were offered in accordance with all applicable laws. The revenues from these programs were not material to its results of operation.
